The pearl- throat ant hatchers ( Rhopias gularis , syn .: Myrmotherula gularis ) is a small species of ant birds . The species occurs exclusively in South America.

Appearance

The pearl-throat ant hatchers reach a body length of 8.5 to 9.5 centimeters and are thus one of the smallest species of ant birds. It weighs between 10 and 12 grams. The physique is round.

Pearl-throated ant panties have a gray face and noticeably dark eyes. The throat is speckled with white. The top of the body is brown. The wing covers have a dark band that is lined with white. The tail is very short, as is characteristic of the other ant hatchers.

Spread and behavior

Pearl-throated ant hatchers are found exclusively in the Atlantic forest areas of Brazil. They are resident birds that populate the lower layer of evergreen forests. The species is not very common but is not considered to be threatened.
