Personality

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Personality is both a passive quality of beings who participate in certain social interactions and the active individual self-organization of humans. It is not just a consciousness phenomenon, but also an ethical determination.

Personality is thus also understood as a principle of successful human coexistence in society and the state (cf., among others, Christian social teaching , personalism ). As such, it is equally a prerequisite and a condition for the meaning of all pedagogy , education and upbringing .

It is understood as a polar, complementary contrast to sociality , which is realized in a unit of tension as concrete lived solidarity (solidarism). There, where the principle of personality is not observed, serious disturbances arise (e.g. in totalitarianism ).

The term personality is often reproduced or confused with individuality or personality .
