Register of persons

A person register (or name register , person index ) is a structured , list-like and quickly accessible collection of information about people .

This umbrella term includes:

Classic files and directories

• The classic way of a card index in a box - where each card sheet gives a summary of information about a person ( author , employee, graphic designer, etc.)
• Subject-related filing of descriptions and data in office folders - mostly in A4 format . Even with smaller quantities
• Alphabetical lists and mostly also references where you can see more details - e.g. B.
  • Biographical information, possibly a list of publications
  • Department directory , company directory , commercial register , ship register
  • Biographies , as well as relevant reference works and dictionaries
• Overview of the characters in a drama
