Pertness is a heavy metal group from the Bernese Oberland . Pertness combine fast played heavy metal with bagpipes . The band calls their style of music "Swiss Highland Metal" because they come from the Swiss mountains.

history

Foundation to first record deal (1993-2008)

Pertness was founded in 1993. In 1994 and 1998 they released two demos. Two highlights of the early years were appearances in the opening act for Savatage at the Z7 in Pratteln on June 20, 2001 and with Metal Church in 1999.

Since 2008

In June 2007 the band released the first real album called Seven Times Eternety . Pertness initially released it on their own and then looked for a record company with it. With a new CD art work, the album was released again under the same name in March 2008 via Karthago Records . In 2010 From the Beginning to the End followed , again via Karthago Records. The band released their third album, Frozen Time , in 2012 via Pure Legend Records , which also released their fourth album Metamorphosis in 2018 . Since 2007 Pertness has been playing concerts in Switzerland with bands such as Eluveitie , Excelsis and Gonoreas . Together with the last two, smaller Swiss tours are regularly carried out under the Swordbrothers banner .

Cover artwork

The covers of the albums Seven Times Etenety , From the Beginning to the End and Frozen Time were designed by Georg Huber . They each represent the same landscape in different stages of development.

Pörtness GmBh

Pörtness GmBh is a side project, under whose name Pertness dresses songs from various well-known bands in a metallic sound. In contrast to the actual band, Pörtness GmBh also has chants in German. The only original composition Heimspiel to date is a contribution to the 2008 European Football Championship sung in Swiss German . In the Blick online voting, Pertness achieved third place.

reception

The publications of Pertness received positive reviews from the recognized German-language scene magazines Rock Hard and Metal Hammer . On the Swiss heavy metal portal metalfactory.ch, Pertness made it into the top ten of the “Best Swiss Band” category in 2012 and 2013 readers' poll.
