The Peruća Lake (Croatian Perućko jezero ) is a reservoir near the city of Sinj in Croatia .
Just a few kilometers after its source, the 100 km long Cetina River flows into the Peruća reservoir. The artificial lake is between 10 and 20 km², depending on the water inflow. The dam, built in 1958 from bulk material, is 67 meters high and 467 meters long. It is used to supply water and generate electricity .
During the Croatian War , the dam was blown up by Serbian troops in 1995 and the structure was significantly damaged, but it did not break completely.
Parts of the Winnetou films (freely based on Karl May ) were also shot on the lake .
