Peruvian Army

The Peruvian Army (Ejército Del Perú) is part of the Peruvian Armed Forces . Around 70,000 soldiers serve in it.

The army celebrates on December 9, the anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho (1824).

The coat of arms of the Peruvian army represents a sword, which points upwards to the sun and is surrounded by a laurel wreath. In the area of the knob the saying "HASTA EL ULTIMO QUEMAR CARTUCHO" is (fired until the last cartridge was) to read. The coat of arms is also depicted on the dark green flag of the Peruvian Army.

The Peruvian Army maintains three special units at brigade level: the 1a Brigada de Fuerzas Especiales , 3a Brigada de Fuerzas Especiales and the Sexta Brigada de Fuerzas Especiales .
