Lucy Kaplansky (born February 2, 1960 in Chicago ) is an American singer and musician ( singer-songwriter ).

Life

Lucy Kaplansky comes from Chicago, but began her music career in New York in the scene around Suzanne Vega , Shawn Colvin and many others. She interrupted her musical career to study psychology, which she graduated with a doctorate. Some time later she worked as a psychologist in a hospital and also had a practice. During this time she continued to work with other musicians. It wasn't until 1994 that she started her solo career as a musician.

She is the daughter of the mathematician Irving Kaplansky .
