Pesmes (noble family)

The de Pesmes family was a French - Swiss aristocratic family that had existed since the 11th century .

The family originated in the village of Pesmes in what was then the Free County of Burgundy (now Franche-Comté ). It can be found in Geneva in 1379 , in Neuchâtel in 1707 and in Orbe in 1715 . In Geneva, members of the family were among the wealthiest merchants. From it emerged councilors of the city in the 15th and 16th centuries. The family is related by marriage to various noble families from Savoy and Bern . The Geneva branch went out in the male line in 1530 with Jacques, who had been Lord of Brandis since 1482 . This line was naturalized in Bern. The older line settled with André (1586-1609) in Vaud. He married Elisabeth d'Allinges. This brought the family the rule of Saint-Saphorin-sur-Morges .
