Pesta

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pesta is the abbreviation for Centro Experimental Pestalozzi , an alternative kindergarten and school project ( primary and secondary level ) in Tumbaco , Ecuador . It was founded by Mauricio and Rebeca Wild and existed from 1977 to 2005.

Mission statements

The school is a type of school with particular emphasis on the free choice of learning content by the pupils, material lessons , no grading and everyday school life without a class structure . She also attaches great importance to the involvement of parents and intensive parental work, adult education and horizontal teamwork instead of authoritarian structures.

The Wilds' school concept is based on the work of Maria Montessori , Jean Piaget , Humberto Maturana and Francisco Varela and established the non-directive education .

history

The Pesta was created in 1977 from the personal decision of the Wild couple to ensure spontaneous activities for their own children in a natural, cultural and relaxed environment - without any formal official requirements. This approach found increasing interest in the wilderness area. The number of 3- to 18-year-old children and adolescents who used this prepared environment every day stabilized at around 180 over the 29 years of the school's existence and was approved by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education in 1989 as Ecuadorian basic education without lesson plans, grading and Classes fully recognized.

These many years of experience in non-direct human interaction and relationships between adults and adolescents enabled important insights into the regularities of life processes, survival needs and the necessary conditions for realizing human potential. Six books by Rebeca Wild in German (some of which have appeared in English, Dutch, Spanish and Italian) document some of the reflections that have grown out of this experience.

Serious economic and social changes in the country, which escalated in 2000 and hindered increasingly suitable relationships between parents and children, resulted in a growing tendency towards delegating parental responsibilities. For this reason, after long deliberations, the Centro Experimental Pestalozzi was closed in 2005. Since then, under the protection of the legal institution of the Fundación Educativa Pestalozzi , new foundations have been created on which a suitable social environment for adults and adolescents can emerge and the family can again act as the starting point and center of work.
