Pesthidegkút

Pesthidegkút ( Eng .: Hidikut ) (also Pesthidegkut, Hidikút or Ófalu Altdorf) is a formerly independent municipality in the Ofner Bergland , the area around Budapest , Hungary . In 1950 Pesthidegkut was incorporated into District II / A (north-west) of the Hungarian capital.

Today Pesthidegkut has about 18,000 inhabitants. Due to the many green spaces, Pesthidegkut is now considered the green lung and a popular destination for many Budapesters, but also a coveted address.

The sights include u. a. Church in the Altdorf, the pilgrimage site of Maria Einsiedel and the limestone caves.

history

Pesthidegkút is first mentioned in 1255. In the years 1301–1400 it was owned by Lajos the Great . The community is destroyed by the Turks in 1526 . In 1702 the first German settlers (mainly from the Black Forest , the Rhineland and Neudorf ) arrived through the Habsburg monarchs.

The plague raged in the village in 1739 . In 1840 a fire destroyed most of the community. A hotel regulation takes place in 1867 and three years later the tithing is separated .

Pesthidegkút is captured by Soviet troops in December 1944.

The roughly 2,000 German-born inhabitants of the approx. 8,000 inhabitants of the village were, like other Danube Swabians , deported to the American occupation zone in Germany on 7 and 8 May 1946 by two trains. Most have found their new home in Mosbach , Heidelberg and Mannheim .

In 1950 Pesthidegkút was incorporated into the capital Budapest .
