from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pete Egoscue ([i: 'goskju:]) (* 1945 ) is an American book author and provider of health services. Its franchising system, which is managed from its headquarters in San Diego , currently has 25 institutes in the USA, Mexico and Japan connected. The egoscue method is posture therapy that aims to improve and restore the function of the musculoskeletal system through movement exercises . This is supposed to improve posture . The exercises come from different areas such as B. yoga , popular sports or were specially developed.

Egoscue has no medical training. According to his own report, he suffered an injury in the early 1970s. In rehabilitation he dealt intensively with "the human body and its anatomical, physiological, kinesiological and biomechanical principles". With exercises that he selected himself, he accelerated his healing considerably. In the following years Egoscue first applied his knowledge to friends and family. Due to his success "he has been working full-time since 1978" with his method.

The method has become known in the USA, although there are no scientific studies or even proof of effectiveness. In various journals such as For example, Sports Illustrated has articles on the method.
