Peter-Jürgen Rau

Peter-Jürgen Rau (born November 29, 1936 in Bochum ) is a German politician ( FDP ). He was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament for several electoral terms .

After graduating from high school in Bochum in 1959, Rau studied mechanical engineering at the University of Aachen . He also studied law, political science and economics at the University of Bonn . After graduating with a degree in economics, he worked as a consultant at the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 1966. From 1968 he was deputy head of department at the Hanover Chamber of Commerce and Industry. From 1971 he was managing director of the Hanover-Hildesheim Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Rau joined the FDP and the German Young Democrats in 1966 . From 1972 he was chairman of the state committee for economic policy. For the FDP, Rau was a member of numerous bodies, committees and commissions at federal and state level. For example, he was a member of the board of the Lower Saxony state group of the Rationalization Board of Trustees of German Business (RKW). He was also a member of the board of the German-Polish Society in Hanover. In addition, Rau was district councilor in the 11th district of Hanover. In the eighth electoral term, Rau was elected to the Lower Saxony state parliament, to which he was a member from June 21, 1974 to June 20, 1978. He was no longer a member of the ninth electoral term and was only a member of the state parliament again in the tenth. He was then a member from June 21, 1982 to June 20, 1986. In the eleventh he was again not elected, but moved up on January 18, 1989 and was a member of the state parliament again until June 1990.
