Peter Aschwanden ( 1949 - June 18, 2010 ) was a Swiss filmmaker .

Life

In the 1980s and 1990s he made a name for himself in Switzerland and Germany with his fascinating and gripping documentaries : "The death throes of a grayling" (1986) in the aftermath of the Basel chemical disaster, "Fornication - Investigations in the H." about the life of a pedophile, "Der Tross" (1994) about the Tour de Suisse , " Tony Rominger " (1995) about a cycling star or "Intransit - the black hope" (1997) about an African football star in Europe.

Aschwanden's themes and formats were "handwritten" and thus original testimonies from a highly sensitive but committed contemporary. He did not shy away from addressing sensitive topics and triggered a great response with his films. This was the case for the first time in 1986. After the major fire in Schweizerhalle , the largest Swiss environmental disaster in history, he filmed the death throes of a grayling. In contrast to those responsible for the disaster, he was charged by the animal welfare association and the film was heavily discussed in the media. "Fornication", the portrait of a pedophile, also sparked a major public debate.

At the end of the 1990s, Peter Aschwanden withdrew and from then on made films and advanced training courses for companies. Shortly before his death he was in the realization of a movie about the care organization Spitex .

After a severe cerebral hemorrhage, Peter Aschwanden died unexpectedly on June 18, 2010 at the age of 61.
