Peter August Friedrich of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck

Peter August von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck (born December 7, 1697 in Koenigsberg , † March 22, 1775 in Reval ) was Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck and Field Marshal . From 1743 to 1753 he was Governor General of Reval and Governor of the Governorate of Estonia . In 1758 he was appointed Russian Field Marshal General.

He was the youngest son of Friedrich Ludwig, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck and Princess Luise Charlotte of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg .

His burial chapel is at the Nicolaikirche in Tallinn . It was restored in 1865 by his grandchildren from the Baryatinsky family, Alexander Ivanovich Baryatinsky, and his siblings.

Peter August was only titular Duke. The Gut Haus Beck (Löhne-Ulenburg) , on which the name is based, had already been sold in 1744.

Peter August married Sophie von Hessen-Philippsthal on September 5, 1723 (April 6, 1695 - May 9, 1728), daughter of Philipp . The couple had the following children:

  • Karl (October 1724 - March 1726)
  • Karl Anton August (* August 10, 1727; † September 12, 1759)
  • Ulrike Amelie Wilhelmine (born May 20, 1726, died a short time later)

On March 15, 1742, he married Countess Natalja Nikolajewna Golowina (* September 4, 1724 - January 8, 1767) daughter of Count Nikolai Fjodorowitsch Golowin. The couple had the following children:

  • Peter (February 1, 1743 - January 3, 1751)
  • Alexander (* / † 1744)
  • Catherine (February 23, 1750 - December 20, 1811), married to Prince Ivan Sergeyevich Baryatinsky and was the grandmother of Field Marshal Alexander Ivanovich Baryatinsky
