Peter Bennink

Peter Bennink (born February 1, 1945 ) is a Dutch jazz musician ( alto saxophone , bagpipes ) and music manager.

Bennink, whose older brother is the drummer Han Bennink , formed the original Acoustic Swing Duo with him . In 1967 he presented his quartet on Radio Hilversum . Since the late 1960s it has been part of the Instant Composers Pool . From 1971 he played in the quartet of Willem Breuker , with whom he also recorded and performed in 1973 in London. As the successor to Peter Schat , he was managing director of the Studio voor Elektroinstrumental Muziek ( STEIM ) in Amsterdam from 1973 . In the same year he was part of the Globe Unity Orchestra , and in 1976 he was part of the band of Kees Hazevoet . From 1978 he was a member of the ICP-Tentet. In 1982 he toured North America with Lol Coxhill's company . Tom Lord records 19 recordings between 1968 and 1983.
