Peter Blair
Peter Steele "Pete" Blair (born February 14, 1932 in Cleveland , Ohio ; † June 29, 1994 ) was an American wrestler and winner of a bronze medal at the 1956 Olympic Games .
Career
Peter Blair learned wrestling at Granby High School . His trainer there was Billy Martin. He wrestled exclusively in free style. After high school, Peter joined the US Navy, where he continued to wrestle, but also played American football. His wrestling coach there was Ray Swartz. In 1954 and 1955 he won the NCAA Championships (USA Student Championship) in free style light heavyweight. In 1956 he qualified for participation in the Melbourne Olympics . Peter Blair won there over the Finnish vice world champion from 1955 Veikko Lahti and Adil Atan from Turkey and won the bronze medal in the light heavyweight division.
Peter Blair did not take part in any other international championships. Rather, he has concentrated on his professional career since the Olympic Games in 1956 and only practiced sport as a hobby.
