Clouth's thematic focus is on the relationship between the individual, society and technology. In his work he experiments with different media ( photography , video ) and techniques ( assemblage , graphics , sculpture ). Since 2001 he has favored cardboard as a working material.

Exemplary work

  • Biotecks: Clouth's “microorganisms”, consisting of corrugated cardboard and Shoji paper, combine the character set of Fordist industrial culture (gear wheels, assembly lines, drive belts) and biological forms, a reference to the technological paradigm shift that is taking place .
  • Lightlinge: These objects are based on small, individually cut pieces of cardboard. Put together, they result in a formed whole, a meta-statement about the relationship between the individual and mass society .
  • Stage design: For the stage comics by the German-Israeli artist duo , past sich schuld (Ilanit Magarshak-Riegg and Sir ladybug beetle) created stage design elements (shadow stencils) for the following productions: die sündvergebmaschine (2002), the diaries of Kommissar Zufall (2004) and Barefoot through Hiroshima (2006).
