history

The company emerged from the Hamburg shipping company Robert Bornhofen , which was taken over by its managing partner Peter Döhle in 1962 and continued under his name as a sole proprietorship. Initially, the business was run as a ship brokerage company, which offered small coastal shipping companies, so-called captain shipowners , its services (chartering, operating and accounting) primarily as a trusted broker or contract shipping company, since they had to manage their ship themselves and could only insufficiently take care of the shipping company. Initially around 60 coasters were looked after. Mainly general cargo , bulk cargo and forest products were loaded. As early as the 1960s, however, one began to deal with the currently developing container shipping .
