Peter Dunican

Peter Thomas Dunican (March 15, 1918 - December 19, 1989 ) was a British civil engineer.

Dunican was the right hand man of Ove Arup , with whom he worked since 1943, especially at Arup (founded in 1946). He was a partner from 1956 and was often responsible for the detailed implementation of Arup's ideas and the overall organization of the office. In addition, as a civil engineer, he was directly involved in many of Arup's large projects.

In 1977 he became Chairman of Ove Arup Partnership (which Arup owned as a form of employee participation), which he remained until his retirement in 1984.

In 1977/78 he was President of the Institution of Structural Engineers . In 1977 he became CBE .
