Peter Hermann Eggers (born February 13, 1845 in Friedrichstadt ; † September 18, 1921 in Rendsburg ) was a German entrepreneur.

Live and act

Peter Eggers was the son of a colporteur of the same name (1812-1889) and his wife Sophie Dorothea, née Paulsen (1810-1891). He completed a commercial apprenticeship and then worked as an accountant, correspondent and traveler for the Stuhr & Lorenzen company from Friedrichstadt. He dealt intensively with the production and sale of fertilizers and experimented with it.

Without equity, Eggers founded the chemical fertilizer factory in Rendsburg in 1876, supported by Thomas Johann Gottfried Hollesen and other people . The company on the Eiderkanal and on the Eider was a stock corporation. As its director, Eggers played a major role in the first production of industrial fertilizers in Schleswig-Holstein. He also co-founded the economic and research associations of the fertilizer manufacturers of the time. As a farmer, he ran two farms that he had reclaimed himself and a forest.

In 1877, Eggers set up a company health insurance fund in his company, on whose board an advisory board for workers was represented, which had a say in personnel matters. He was also part of the administration of the Rendsburger Spar- und Leihkasse and co-founded several companies. In his years as an entrepreneur, he bought most of his own shares.

Peters was married to Sophie Catharine Rüter (1850-1931). The couple had two sons and three daughters. The sons, including Hermann Eggers , later managed the father's company.
