The Avista Oil AG is a company in the field of re- refining of waste oil and oil-based fluids as well as in the production of oils and lubricants . It was founded in 1951 in Uetze , Lower Saxony .

In 2016, the joint-stock company achieved a turnover of 173 million euros with around 695 employees at refinery locations at the company's headquarters in Uetze, in Kalundborg , Denmark, and in Peachtree City (Georgia) in the United States. The company's other waste oil collection sites are in the Czech Republic (Avista Oil sro), Belgium (Avista Oil bvba) and the Netherlands (Wubben).

The company uses a multi-stage distillation including thin-film evaporation (total evaporation ) to process waste oil . The distillate is then freed from further undesirable components by solvent extraction and purified. The product is base oils (reraffinates) for the production of new lubricants.

Since April 17, 2019, 45% of the company shares have been held by Susanne Klatten through her investment company Skion , 45% by Bitburger Holding , and the remaining 10% by Dr. Weinberger.

history

In 2003 Avista Oil AG took over the subsidiaries of the Dollbergen mineral oil refinery and the used oil collection company Karo-As from Edelhoff RWE -Umwelt-AG. The origins of the then mineral oil refinery in Dollbergen go back to the industrialist Georg Greiser.
