Peter Guyer

Peter Guyer (* 1957 in Zurich ) is a Swiss director, cameraman and film producer.

Life

After graduating from high school , Guyer studied medicine for three years, and German, journalism and ethnology for three years at the Universities of Bern and Friborg , although he did not complete any of these studies. From 1980 he devoted himself entirely to film work. He directed and / or camerawork on numerous documentaries and art videos and often worked with visual artists. He attended seminars, a. a. with Krzysztof Kieślowski . In 1986 he received a grant from the Canton of Bern for the studio space in New York.

In 1994 Peter Guyer founded his own production company Recycled Tv AG (RecTv) in Bern and has been its head ever since. From 1993 to 1999 he was a member of the Film Commission of the City of Bern, from 2000 to 2007 a member of the Photo and Film Commission of the Canton of Bern and from 2012 to 2014 President of Bern for Film . His work has received numerous awards, including a. In 2001 Peter Guyer received a quality award from the EDI and the Film Prize of the Canton of Bern for his film Big Mac Small World . His film Sounds and Silence, co-directed with Norbert Wiedmer , also won the Bern Film Prize in 2009 and was also nominated for the Swiss Film Prize 2010.

Peter Guyer lives and works in Bern.
