Peter Hartmann (theologian)

Peter Hartmann (born February 8, 1747 in Munich ; † March 16, 1821 ) was a Bavarian Cistercian monk .

Peter Hartmann graduated from the Jesuit high school in Munich in 1766 (today: Wilhelmsgymnasium Munich ). Then studied philosophy (= basic course) and theology at the adjoining lyceum. In 1771 he was ordained a priest and entered the Aldersbach monastery , where he served as a professor of canon law.

After secularization he was a beneficiary, preacher and choir vicar in Altötting. In 1813 he became a beneficiary in Wolnzach in the Regensburg diocese, where he died on March 16, 1821.
