Peter Henrich

Peter Henrich (* 1975 ) is a German provincial Roman archaeologist .

Peter Henrich studied Roman provincial archeology, prehistory and early history as well as historical geography at the Universities of Cologne , Bonn and Saarbrücken and completed his studies in Cologne in 2000 with the thesis A Roman ceramic finds complex from Quanawat (Syria) as an MA . In 2004 he received his doctorate there with the dissertation The Roman settlement of the western Vulkaneifel (Daun district) . On May 24, 2006, he was awarded the Dr. Heinz Cüppers Prize, endowed for the first time and endowed with 2000 euros, in the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier for his work. Between 2001 and 2008, Henrich worked as a scientific consultant as well as excavation and project manager on various projects in Saarland, Rhineland, Rhineland-Palatinate and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. This included research on the grave monuments of Duppach- Weiermühle, excavations in the civil vicus of Bonn and in the Gallo-Roman theater of Dalheim (Luxembourg) . From 2008 he was managing director of the German Limes Commission , and also lecturer at the Archaeological Institute of the University of Cologne. From August 2014 on, he was head of the Koblenz branch of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Archeology Directorate in the Rhineland-Palatinate General Directorate for Cultural Heritage and moved to the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier in summer 2020. Since July 2020 his previous deputy, the prehistoric Cliff Alexander Jost , has been the acting head of the Koblenz branch.

Henrich's research focuses on the Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes , Gallo-Roman theaters, Roman grave monuments, rural settlement in Gaul and the Germanic provinces as well as ancient iron extraction and processing. From 2009 to 2014 he published the articles on the Limes World Heritage Site at irregular intervals .
