Peter J. Biondi

Peter "Pete" J. Biondi (* 23. June 1942 in Newark , New Jersey ; † 10. November 2011 ) was an American politician of the Republican Party .

Life

Born from an Italian immigrant family, Biondi served in the US Army Reserve from 1961 to 1967 after attending high school . He later settled in Hillsborough Township and was mayor of that parish from 1986 to 1993 . He also held numerous functions on public bodies and was a member of the Somerset County Planning Council between 1993 and 1996 .

In 1998 he was elected as a candidate of the Republican Party for the first time as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly and after several re-elections he represented constituency 16 until his death. Between 2002 and 2003 he was deputy chairman of the Republican parliamentary group in the General Assembly and 2008 chairman of the New Jersey Republican Party Conference.
