Peter Johannes Droste

Peter Johannes Droste (* 1959 in Oberhausen-Osterfeld ) is a German historian , didactic and grammar school teacher and acting chairman of the Association of German History Teachers (VGD).

Life

Droste studied history, German language and literature and philosophy at RWTH Aachen University and received his doctorate there. From 1987 to 1993 he was director of the computer museum in Aachen and from 1994 to 1995 scientific director of the museum Zinkhütter Hof in Stolberg . From 1988 to 2016 Droste worked as a research assistant and university lecturer for medieval history and history didactics at RWTH Aachen University and, in the meantime, from 2004 to 2008 at the University of Cologne . He is also a teacher at the Couven-Gymnasium in Aachen and has been publishing school books since 1999. Droste is a founding member and chairman of the HisTech e. V.and member of the Joseph Kuhl Society .

Droste was managing director of the 43rd German Historians' Day and member of the expert council for the German-Polish history book. Since 2006 he has been the head of history at the Center for Practical School Teacher Education (ZfsL) (Gy / Ge) in Jülich and has been a member of the Federal Board of the Association of History Teachers in Germany (VGD) since 2010 . In 2012 he took over the state chairmanship of the VGD in North Rhine-Westphalia.

In addition to the history teacher training, Droste's focus is on medieval history , the history of technology , regional history and German-Polish history. He was involved in the development of museum concepts (Computermuseum Aachen (CMA), Museum Zinkhütter Hof (MZH)), study regulations for teaching history (RWTH Aachen), the practical semester and the educational standards (VGD) as well as various specialist curricula and textbook recommendations.
