Peter Kuehne

Peter Kühne (born May 11, 1935 in Essen ; † February 12, 2015 ) was a German sociologist and theologian .

Life

Peter Kühne studied theology in Bonn and Munich, was ordained a priest and was chaplain in the Ruhr area from 1960 to 1967 . In 1967 he ended his church activity and studied sociology in Bochum. In 1971 he wrote his dissertation on workers' literature 1960–1970 . Working hypotheses of the Dortmund group 61 . From 1971 to 1975 he was a research assistant or academic advisor at the Pädagogische Hochschule Ruhr .

1975–1997 he held a chair for sociology at the Dortmund Social Academy . From the beginning of 1998 he taught sociology at the Center for Further Education at the University of Dortmund .

His teaching and research focus were: sociology and social history of industrial relations, European trade union comparison, sociology of migration and questions of intercultural education, sociology of literature.

From 1986 to 1989 he headed the DGB project educational work with foreign and German employees .

He handed over his archive on flight, asylum and migration to the Fulda University of Applied Sciences in 2008 .

His estate is located in the Fritz Hüser Institute for Literature and Culture in the Working World in Dortmund .
