Peter Lamberg (born March 5, 1935 ) was a senior municipal official. From 1983 to 1995 he was City Director of the independent city of Wolfsburg .

Life

After graduating from high school, studying law and doing his doctorate, Lamberg worked as a senior councilor of the Osnabrück district government and, from 1971, was a full-time city councilor and department head for the city of Recklinghausen .

In 1975 Lamberg was elected city director by the Braunschweig City Council.

In the 1970s he set up the Lower Saxony Study Institute for Municipal Administration in Braunschweig at its new location and taught public law at the university.

In 1983 he took over the position of senior city director for the city of Wolfsburg from his predecessor Werner Hasselbring. The expansion of Wolfsburg city center was an important project during Lamberg's tenure, so the north and south head of Porschestrasse received new faces. In 1985 the City Director celebrated the “50 years Wolfsburg” anniversary with a big party. In 1986 he helped to set up the University of Applied Sciences at Robert-Koch-Platz in Wolfsburg . During Lamberg's tenure, a new extension to the town hall, underground garages and the Wolfsburg Art Museum, which is recognized worldwide, were built in Wolfsburg . Together with the then Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, Carl Hahn , he successfully campaigned for the alignment of the high-speed line from Hanover to Berlin via Wolfsburg .

After the incorporation of many traditional cities and towns into the still young city of Wolfsburg, Lamberg saw the growing together as the most difficult and most important local political task and placed decisive importance on further urban development.

At the age of twelve, Peter Lamberg was Wolfsburg's senior city director for the longest time. He resigned on April 30, 1995 from this office. His successor was Rolf Schnellecke .
