Peter Land

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peter Land (* 1966 in Aarhus ) is a Danish artist. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1988 to 1994 and at Goldsmith College in London from 1994 to 1995 and works in the fields of installation , performance , video and graphics. Since 1993 he has had numerous international exhibitions.

Land's early works deal with a burlesque representation of male failure. In one of his earliest video works ("Step Ladder Blues"), Land climbs up a ladder again and again to paint the gallery in his Copenhagen gallery, only to fall off the ladder again and again. In more recent works, especially the drawings and installation sculptures, surreal (nightmarish) dream scenarios and imagery reminiscent of Little Nemo or Alice in Wonderland predominate. Peter Land lives in Copenhagen.
