Peter Mauley, 5th Baron Mauley

Peter Mauley, 5th Baron Mauley (also Peter VIII de Mauley or Piers de Mauley ) (* 1378 ; † September 6, 1415 ) was an English nobleman .

Peter VIII Mauley was the eldest son of Peter VII Mauley, who however died between 1378 and 1383. After his grandfather Peter Mauley, 4th Baron Mauley died in 1383, the five-year-old Peter VIII became the heir to the family's extensive estates in Yorkshire . Management of the inheritance was entrusted to Sir Thomas Percy, son of Henry Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland , while he was a minor . In 1399 Mauley was able to inherit. He immediately supported Henry Bolingbroke's rebellion against King Richard II and was defeated on the eve of his coronation as Knight of the Bath in October 1399, when Bolingbroke became King as Henry IV . In 1400 he was allowed to marry Maud († 1438), a daughter of Ralph Neville, 1st Earl of Westmorland . As Baron Mauley he was a member of parliament .

He had at least two daughters with his wife Maud Neville:

• Elizabeth Mauley ⚭ ​​George Salvayn

Since he died without male descendants, the family estates were divided between his widow and his two daughters after his death.
