Peter Meier (composer)
Peter Meier , also Peter Meyer , (* around 1620 , † around 1677 ) was a German organist and composer of the early Baroque .
life and work
Peter Meier lived in Hamburg. Johann Rist characterized him as "Ratsmusicus". Meier has not yet been proven in the records.
Meier's most important musical work is considered to be his songs in Rist's collection Des noble Dafnis from Cimbria sung about Florabella (Hamburg 1651, expanded 1656, 2nd edition 1666). Overall, this collection gives evidence of the French influence on the German bass song. More songs by Meier can be found in prints from Hamburgischer Dichter from 1633 to 1677.
