The Peter Meyer (pmv) based in Saulheim in Rheinhessen was founded in 1976 by Peter Meyer and laid Individual Travel guide. His specialization is environmentally and socially responsible travel by public transport.

history

On July 1, 1976, Peter Meyer registered the book distribution “Überdruck” and shortly afterwards published the volume Connexions - Adressbuch Alternative Projekte . After a trip to South Asia he wrote his first travel guide India, Nepal, Sri Lanka - a travel companion for globetrotters that is published in his own “mandala Verlag”. In 1987 Annette Sievers took over the editing and later also the design of the books. From 1990 they jointly developed the Peter Meyer travel guide as owners . Socially compatible and environmentally friendly travel should be the focus. For the first time, publishers have structured their travel guides according to handle brands, which will then be adopted worldwide. In 1996 the phrase book Abraxas and the first leisure guide Rhineland-Palatinate with children appear . Three years later, an English-speaking travel guide was created for the first time, Jojo Cobbinah's Ghana - Practical Travel Guide for the “Gold Coast” of West Africa . In 2005 pmv received the ITB Book Award for its individual travel guides at the International Tourism Exchange in Berlin. In 2008 the publishing house received the AKEP Junior Award for its data shop; further prizes followed. At the Frankfurt Book Fair 2009, Peter Meyer Verlag was awarded the “Climate-neutral publisher” certificate. In addition to literature on Ghana, pmv has only published travel guides close to Germany since 2010. In 2016 the publisher moved its headquarters from Frankfurt am Main to Saulheim in Rheinhessen.

Peter Meyer

After an apprenticeship as an electrician, Meyer studied ethnology at the University of Mainz. In 1976 he founded the “mandala verlag”, his first self-written books are Connexions - address book for alternative projects and the travel guide to India, Nepal and Sri Lanka . From 1984 to 1988 Meyer was chairman of the German headquarters for globetrotters (dzg). From 2001 to 2010 he was also a member of the board of the Hessen State Association of the German Book Trade Association . Since 2007 he has been chiefly managing director of leinölpro GmbH.

Annette Sievers

Sievers studied art history and German in Frankfurt am Main. Since 1990 she has been the publisher of pmv on an equal footing. As an author, she has written, among other things, the Frankfurt am Main cultural guide . She has been running the publishing house since 2007. Since 1997 she has been actively involved in training and further education in the book industry. a. by working as a lecturer at the mediacampus frankfurt and as a lecturer at the Stuttgart Media University .
