Peter Mortzfeld
Peter Mortzfeld (* 1936 in Marienwerder ) is a German philologist and lives in Wolfenbüttel.
Peter Mortzfeld studied classical philology and history in Göttingen and Freiburg . He became a research assistant at the Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel . With financial support from the Volkswagen Foundation and the KG Saur publishing house , Mortzfeld has sifted through and researched the library's historical portrait collection over decades. From 1986 to 2008 he documented the collection in 50 volumes.
Mortzfeld has done numerous translations from ancient (Latin) and modern (English, French) languages. He has a thematically comprehensive book collection with more than 8,000 volumes.
