Peter Nennstiel
Peter Nennstiel (born December 11, 1934 in Gießen ; † July 6, 2009 ) was a German basketball coach .
career
Peter Nennstiel, who was also known by his nickname “Pit”, played soccer, handball and water polo as a teenager. He came to basketball later. He worked at MTV 1846 Giessen first as a player, then as a coach.
As a basketball coach, he led the Giessen team to the first German championship title in the club's history in 1965. He was credited with having given the decisive tactical move during a break in the hard-fought final phase of the final against VfL Osnabrück , which ultimately resulted in Ernie Butler's goal , through which MTV defeated Lower Saxony with 69:68 and thus won the title .
Nennstiel, who worked as a teacher, later moved from Gießen to Nidda , where he worked as a youth coach in handball and as a football coach for SC Viktoria Nidda.
He died in July 2009 at the age of 74.
