Peter Nusser

Peter Nusser (born October 22, 1936 in Berlin ) is a German literary scholar and emeritus professor of German philology at the Free University of Berlin .

Life

Nusser studied older and newer German literature , history, educational sciences and philosophy at the Free University of Berlin and at the universities in Basel and Göttingen. In 1961 he passed the first state examination in Berlin. He was a research assistant to Walther Killy . After receiving his doctorate in 1963 with Walther Killy and Peter Szondi in Göttingen, supported by the Studienstiftung , he became lecturer at the DAAD and assistant professor at the College of Wooster , Ohio, USA. In 1964 he took over the management of the college summer school in Vienna. From 1965 to 1967 he was a trainee lawyer in Berlin and passed the assessor examination . Then he was a research assistant for educational sciences (focus: school pedagogy) at the Free University of Berlin.

In 1969 he followed the call to the lectureship for German Philology and its didactics at the Pedagogical University Berlin . In 1971 he was appointed professor. From 1980 to 2000 he was professor for modern German literature at the Free University of Berlin.

His research interests were literary theory, literary sociology, literature of the 19th and 20th centuries, popular reading material and literary didactics. He gave guest lectures at German and North American universities (including Toronto, Orlando, Vancouver). In teaching, he focused on the goals of the student teachers.
