Peter Sanders

Peter Sanders (* 1967 ) is a German computer scientist and professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology . There he heads the Algorithmics II Chair at the Institute for Theoretical Computer Science.

Life

Sanders grew up in Ahlen and Oelde and studied and did his doctorate at the then University of Karlsruhe (TH) (today Karlsruhe Institute of Technology , KIT). In 2000 he completed his habilitation at Saarland University . From 1997 to 2004 he worked as a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science in Saarbrücken. In 2004 he took over the management of the Institute for Theoretical Computer Science at KIT.

His research focuses on various aspects of algorithmics , especially basic algorithms, data structures and communication strategies .

• 2011 Google Research Award for 2011 (research group)

• 1986 national winner at the 4th national computer science competition 1985/1986
