Peter Seufert played for the amateurs of 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the Oberliga Südwest until 1987 before he moved to Union Solingen in the 2. Bundesliga. There he was a regular player from the start and played 37 of 38 games. After one season he went to Fortuna Cologne , also a second division. He was a fixture in Cologne for five years and made a total of 165 league games (13 goals) for Fortuna. Then he moved to Eintracht Trier and thus back to Rhineland-Palatinate . He played one season with Trier in the major league, before the club qualified for the newly founded third-class regional league (season west / southwest). At the beginning of the 1996/97 season he played briefly at TV Althornbach, but returned to Eintracht Trier in October. In 1997/98 he reached the semi-finals of the DFB Cup with Trier. In 1998 he signed a contract with league rivals FC 08 Homburg . The club started in 1999 in the Oberliga Südwest because it had not received a regional league license. He played his last games for Homburg in the 2003/04 season. After that he was temporarily assistant coach of the team.
