Peter Sonnberger

Peter Sonnberger (born February 6, 1957 in Linz ) is an Austrian administrative lawyer and former politician ( ÖVP ). Sonnberger was a member of the Austrian National Council from 2003 to 2010 .

education and profession

Peter Sonnberger attended elementary school 37 (Karlhofschule) from 1963 to 1967 and then switched to the academic high school until 1971 . From 1971 to 1975 he was at the music-pedagogical Bundesrealgymnasium Honauerstraße, from which he graduated in 1975 with the Matura. After completing his school education, Sonnberger began studying law at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz . In 1979 he acquired the academic degree Dr. iur. Sonnberger did his military service from 1985 to 1986, and in 2001 he attended basic management at the Linz Management Academy.

Sonnberger worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Canon Law between 1976 and 1979 and completed his judicial practice in 1979. Sonnberger has been working as a lawyer for the State of Upper Austria since 1979, and on March 1, 2010 he took over the position of Deputy State Office Director for Upper Austria.

Peter Sonnberger was city chairman of the Young ÖVP from 1984 to 1987 and was a member of the Linz municipal council from 1985. From 1989 to 1990 he was also the chairman of the ÖVP local council club. From 1991 to 1997 and from 2001 to 2003 Sonnberger was a member of the Linz City Senate. As of 2001, his areas of responsibility included: green, health, housing, cemetery, fire brigades and business, tourism, markets, housing and universities of applied sciences.

Within the party, Sonnberger was deputy city party chairman of the ÖVP Linz, local party chairman of the ÖVP Linz- Harbach and district chairman of the ÖAAB Linz. From November 7, 2003, Sonnberger represented the ÖVP in the National Council. After being elected as deputy regional office director in Upper Austria, Sonnberger resigned from the National Council on February 23, 2010 and resigned his mandate as Linz councilor in March 2010.
