Peter Stegemann
Peter Stegemann (born December 9, 1940 in Zwickau , † July 22, 1978 in Oelsnitz ) was a fatality on the inner-German border .
Life
Peter Stegemann was a transport worker, married and had two children. He lived in Beiersdorf . On the evening of July 21, 1978, he said goodbye to his wife, drove his moped towards the border with the Federal Republic of Germany, then approached it on foot and successfully crossed the border signal fence . When trying to get over the actual border fence, he set off five self- firing systems at 3:05 a.m. , which seriously injured him. 80 minutes later, his death was determined in the Oelsnitz hospital.
