Peter Udelhoven

Hans Peter Dieter Udelhoven (* 1944 ) is a German science journalist and non-fiction author.

Life

Udelhoven wrote numerous German-language publications in the field of human medicine . His journalistic activities focus on patient education , doping in sport , medical training and critical analysis of the extensive lobbying of the pharmaceutical industry. He has also appeared as the author of a realistic doping thriller ( Rage, 1999).

Udelhoven was involved in the disclosure of the toothpaste doping scandal surrounding Dieter Baumann . He documented the possibility of effective substance absorption through the oral mucosa, which has been proven in doping research.

Udelhoven was the founder and responsible publisher of the Wissenschaftsverlag in Cologne in the early 1970s. The Academy for Medicine in the Media can also be traced back to his initiative. As a freelance journalist, he later acted as the editor of patient guides on a wide variety of health topics ( Lübbe's medical guide , patients understand medicine , patient ). The Great Family Guide to Health from 1986 was developed under his responsible scientific direction. In the 1990s, Udelhoven was head of the science department of the medical journals Der Kassenarzt , Medical Post and editor-in-chief of the advanced training magazines Therapy Week and Praxisberater .

As a successful senior athlete, Udelhoven won numerous medals at European and World Championships for senior athletes .
