Career

Amateur player in Neuss (1971–1977)

From 1971 on, Vogel wore the jersey of VfR Neuss , which competed in the then second-rate Regionalliga West. However, in 1972 it was relegated to the Niederrhein Association League, in which the club remained in the following years. The player, who is at home in the forward position , remained loyal to the club during this time and thus always played in the amateur field. Usually he occupied the left attacking side, while Peter Müller played on the right wing. For the season 1977/78 he was then committed by the Bundesliga club MSV Duisburg .

Professional in Duisburg and Berlin (1977–1981)

At MSV he belonged to a team that included the national players Bernard Dietz , Rudi Seliger and Ronald Worm . Vogel made his debut in the top German division on August 6, 1977, when he was substituted on for Günter Weber in a 5-2 win against Hamburger SV in the 75th minute of the game . Then he received the trust of trainer Otto Knefler and his successor Carl-Heinz Rühl relatively often . Overall, he played 14 Bundesliga games in the course of a year without scoring his own, but was only in the starting line-up twice and usually served as a substitute.

In 1978 his time in the Bundesliga ended after only one year and he moved from Duisburg to the second division tennis Borussia Berlin . He was regularly called up for this, but could not fight for a permanent place. In total, he completed 67 second division games with seven goals until he was relegated with his team in 1981. This also meant the end of his professional career.

Further work
