Peter Weiss (sculptor)
Peter Weiss (born September 25, 1924 in Danzig ; † October 30, 1981 in Montauriol ) was a German sculptor of the 20th century.
life and work
After training as a teacher at the Vocational Education Institute in Frankfurt am Main and training as a stone sculptor , Peter Weiss studied with Richard Scheibe at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin . In the 1950s he went on study trips to France , Greece , Spain and Turkey . Since 1955 he lived alternately in Darmstadt and Montauriol . From 1963 he lived permanently in Montauriol.
Peter Weiss was a sculptor who orientated himself on a classical image of man. Numerous commissions for public space were created for Berlin, Darmstadt and Essen . Several large sculptures and wall reliefs have been preserved in Darmstadt.
