Peter Zimmermann (born August 4, 1975 ) is a German journalist , manager and former government spokesman and state secretary in the state governments of Saxony and Thuringia .

biography

Peter Zimmermann grew up in Bautzen and passed his Abitur examination there. After his community service he completed a journalistic training in the field of private radio from 1995. He then worked as a reporter, moderator and editor for various broadcasters in the private and public sectors. In 1998 he moved to the PSR media group and later Regiocast as head of corporate communications. At the same time, Zimmermann was active as spokesman for the working group of private broadcasters and as deputy chairman of the board of Medientreffpunkt Mitteldeutschland eV . From 2004 to 2007 he restructured the radio station Landeswelle Thüringen in Erfurt as managing director and in 2007 also took over the management of the PSR media group in Leipzig. In September 2007 he went to the Saxon state government under Prime Minister Georg Milbradt and Stanislaw Tillich as government spokesman and state secretary . From November 2009 he worked in the same position and as State Secretary for Media in the Free State of Thuringia under Prime Minister Christine Lieberknecht. At the same time he was chairman of the supervisory board of Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung and member of the broadcasting council of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk from 2009 to 2013 . When his planned move back into business became known, he was initially retired on July 1, 2013. After a media controversy had developed over his pension entitlements, he applied for his release from office.

Life after politics

In 2013 Zimmermann took over the management of the Leipzig internet company Unister as Chairman of the Management Board . In 2015 he left the company and took over the consulting agency Wolffberg Management Communication (formerly Westend Communication).
