Peter von Mentzingen

Peter Karl Hermann Anton Maria Freiherr von und zu Mentzingen (born March 29, 1854 in Hugstetten ; † December 23, 1939 at Menzingen Castle in Menzingen ) belonged to Chamber II from 1905 to 1912, and Chamber I from 1913 to 1918 Baden Estates Assembly .

Life

He was born as the son of the Grand Duke of Baden's cavalry master and landlord on Hugstetten and Menzingen, Hermann Karl Peter von Mentzingen and his wife Marie Henrike Sigismunda Freiin von und zu Andlaw-Birseck. The Catholic leader Heinrich Bernhard von Andlaw-Birseck was his grandfather.

After completing school as a Jesuit pupil in Feldkirch , he studied law in Göttingen and Heidelberg. He then worked as a lawyer, from 1884 as court junker in the Oberstkammerherrenamt in the Grand Duke of Baden, then in the clerk's office at the Constance Court and from 1888 at the Mannheim Regional Court . From 1905 to 1912 he was a member of the second chamber of Baden as a member of the 54th electoral district (parts of the Wiesloch district and the Bruchsal district). He was on the Commission for Rules of Procedure, Archives and Library and spoke up on a wide range of questions. From 1913 to 1918 he was a member of the first chamber, where he represented the northern Baden area and was a member of the budget commission and the commission for justice and administration. He was also a member of the Karlsruhe District Chamber and Chamber of Agriculture, first Vice-President of the Baden Farmers' Association and a member of the Railway Council at the Baden Ministry of Finance.

From 1889 he was married to Auguste Countess von Quadt-Wykradt-Isny and after her early death entered into a second marriage with Maria Riederer Freiin von Paar zu Schönau, with whom he had two children.
