The Petits chanteurs de Strasbourg (full name: Petits chanteurs de Strasbourg - Maîtrise de l'Opéra national du Rhin ; translated from French as “little singers from Strasbourg”; also La Maîtrise for short ) is a Strasbourg children's choir , youth choir and male choir who rehearses and performs together. The Petits chanteurs de Strasbourg are the children's choir of the Opéra national du Rhin .
history
The choir was founded by Philippe Utard in 2001, five years later the choir was officially renamed Maîtrise de l'Opéra national du Rhin - Petits chanteurs de Strasbourg . The choir performs at concerts all over the world, but traditionally it is particularly active in Alsace . The repertoire varies between contemporary songs and classics. They also take part in the performances of the Opéra national du Rhin . The choir has been directed by the Argentine Luciano Bibiloni since 2014 . La Maîtrise de l'Opéra national du Rhin made recordings of La damnation de Faust (Hector Berlioz) and the Messiah (Georg Friedrich Handel).
The main house of the choir was voted “Opera House of the Year” by critics in 2019 .
After an audition, the choir accepts children from 7 to 18 years of age. These appear in the ensemble together with a youth and male choir, the latter only being an addition.
