Petr Čech (athlete)
Petr Čech (born January 6, 1944 in Budyně nad Ohří ) is a former Czech hurdler who started for Czechoslovakia and specialized in the 110-meter distance .
In 1972 Čech reached the semifinals at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Grenoble over 50 m hurdles and finished eighth at the Olympic Games in Munich . At the European Indoor Championships in 1973 in Rotterdam, he failed over 60 m hurdles in the first round. In 1974 he retired at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg over 60 m hurdles in the preliminary run and at the European Athletics Championships in Rome in the semi-finals. In 1978 he did not get past the first round at the European Indoor Championships in Milan over 60 m hurdles and reached the semi-finals at the European Championships in Prague .
Čech was Czechoslovakian champion over 110 m hurdles three times (1974, 1977, 1978) and Czechoslovakian indoor champion over 50 m respectively. 60 m hurdles (1972, 1974, 1978). He set his personal best over 110 m hurdles of 13.5 s on June 19, 1973 in Prague .
