Origin and content
I Don't Wanna Lose You was written by Albert Hammond and Graham Lyle and co-produced with Roger Davies for Turner's album Foreign Affair . The lyrics are about the fact that the protagonist, who is looking for true love, does not want to lose a loved one.

The song was released in November 1989 through Capitol Records as the second single from the album in the UK and Ireland and in February 1990 as the third single across Europe and Australia . In the latter areas, Steamy Windows was first decoupled. On the B-side of I Don't Wanna Lose You is the song Not Enough Romance . I Don't Wanna Lose You also appeared on many compilation albums .
I Don't Wanna Lose You became a top ten hit in Belgium ( Flanders , ninth), Spain (third) and the UK, where it reached eighth. The song is Turner's fifth top ten single in the latter country and also reached at least the top 40 in some other charts, for example in Germany , where it came to number 38, in Austria with number 20 and in Switzerland with number 30 .
Songwriters Albert Hammond and Graham Lyle each released a cover version of the song.
Music video
The music video was directed by Dominic Sena . Various flirting scenes between man and woman can be seen. Actors included Djimon Hounsou and Musetta Vander . In between, Tina Turner sings the song on a balcony. The video was viewed over 22 million times on YouTube (as of March 2020).
