Simply the Best is a compilation album by Tina Turner . It was released on Capitol Records in October 1991 . The album reached number 4 in Germany , number 2 in Great Britain , number 3 in Switzerland , number 8 in Austria and number 113 in the USA .
history
Simply the Best summarized Tina Turner's greatest hits since her comeback in the 1980s and also offered some new songs. These included Love Thing (UK Airplay Charts No.13), I Want You Near Me (No.22 in Great Britain) and Way of the World (UK Airplay Charts No.6 and No.13 in the singles charts) as singles released between 1991 and 1992 . It also included a dance version of Turner's hit Nutbush City Limits . The album is Turner's best-selling in the UK - it is one of the best-selling of all time with 2.1 million copies sold. It went 8x platinum there and stayed in the charts for 140 weeks. Over 7 million copies were sold worldwide.
In the US, the album was released with a slightly modified track list. There Addicted to Love (Live) and Be Tender With Me Baby were replaced by What You Get Is What You See and Look Me in the Heart . In Australia a limited edition was released with an additional bonus disc. There a version of The Best was released in a duet with Jimmy Barnes . The title of the compilation is also taken from the chorus of The Best .
criticism
On the website Allmusic.com the reviewer gave 4.5 out of 5 stars. The album is an "almost perfect" compilation of Turner's career after her comeback.
