Petra Büdenbender

Petra Büdenbender (* around 1955) is a former German swimmer .

Büdenbender, who later married and has been called Petra Focke ever since , initially started for the Neptun Siegerland swimming association . There she celebrated her greatest career success under coach Gerhard Rademacher by winning the German championship over the 800 meter freestyle course in 1969. With a winning time of 10: 09.87 minutes, she set a new German record. In total, she set a national record six times in the course of her career. At the time she won the championship, the then 14-year-old was the youngest German champion on this course in the history of German swimming. At the age of 16 she joined the Wasserfreunde Wuppertal . There she failed, however, in qualifying for the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich . After her career, the former swimmer lives in Wuppertal (as of 2013), takes part in Masters championships and is still involved in swimming, especially as part of the talent search.
