Petra Elsner (born January 26, 1947 in Bad Pyrmont ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1996 to 2016 she was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament .

Education, work and family

After secondary school, Elsner completed an apprenticeship as a publishing clerk . She worked in the profession she had learned until 1968.

Elsner is married and has one child.

politics

In 1970 Elsner joined the SPD. From 1986 to 2013 she was a member of the district council of the Ahrweiler district , in which she also held the post of deputy parliamentary group chairman from 1989 until her resignation in 2013. From 1988 to 1994 she was district chairman of the Working Group of Social Democratic Women . She has been deputy district chairwoman of the SPD district association Ahrweiler since 1988.

From 1996 to 2016 Elsner was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament. Most recently, she was a full member of the Committee for Equality and the Advancement of Women and the Integration Committee. She was the spokesperson for gender equality policy for the SPD parliamentary group and chairwoman of the internal working group "Equality and the Advancement of Women".
